Streaming Radiological Imaging in MD3

The images are launched when you "open the Radiologist’s report" after you have imported the "written report" into MD3. This mimics the scenario where you receive the report over the internet from your Radiology provider, you start to read the report and the associated images commence streaming into MD3 – right next to the report using the FIT Web solution offering from DDI Health!

What to do:

If you have MD3, the FIT view controls are already installed and you’ll be able to view these demonstration images by downloading and importing one (or all) of these sample patient reports directly into MD3. Naturally you need an internet connection, broadband of course is faster and Internet Explorer 6.0 installed.

Follow these steps to view radiological images associated with the Radiologist’s report for a sample patient in MD3 right now.

  •  Download one of the following reports to the MD3 holding folder for diagnostic investigation results, just as if you had received the report online by your diagnostic provider.
  • Once you’ve downloaded the file to the holding folder,
select F5 and import the report.
  • Choose “No Action Required”, then “Close”.
This ‘written report’ is now imported within MD3.
  • Open the patient by name in the usual way.
  • Select Results tab, double click the ‘result’ and you’ll commence viewing the imagery for that patient.

Download the sample HL7 files:

Where to place these demo files:

  • In MD3 select Tools/options.
  • Select “investigations” from the pop up menu.
  • Click the “setup data transfer” button – within MD3.
  • Make a note of the folder listed in the “File Path” as detailed in this window within MD3.
  • Download the reports listed above into the same folder.

The Filmless Image Technology (FIT) Web Server can be implemented into any radiology digital environment, regardless of what existing softcopy reporting or PACS the radiology group has implemented! HCN Limited who produce MD3 have some very good Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) for Doctors on how the FIT viewing solution works within MD3, see http://www.hcn.com.au/md3/fitpreview.asp
